Assistant Director of Finance for a Luxury Hotel/Condo in Florida

We are assisting our client in finding an Assistant Director of Finance for their luxury, 700+ room hotel and condo property in Florida. The Assistant Director of Finance reports directly to the Director of Finance and will always operate with the property’ s strategic objective in mind. The Assistant Director of Finance must provide financial support, expertise and leadership to the Finance Department while focusing on creating value through exceptionally executed guest experiences and strong operational controls.

The Assistant Director of Finance will manage all finance and accounting functions for the hotel AND condo, as well as some shared services functions for the Hotel Group including:
  • Financial reporting, Budgeting and forecasting, Purchasing and Cash management
  • Capital Expenditure project management and Investment and operational analysis
  • Condominium association accounting and reporting
  • Accounts receivable
  • Accounts payable (shared service of the Hotel Group)
  • Income audit (shared service of the Hotel Group)
  • Payroll (shared service of the Hotel Group)
    The Salary is $100, 000 USD with a performance-based bonus structure of up to 20%

  • Experience in a hotel/condo property is required
  • Bachelor’ s degree with a major in accounting, finance or business administration. MBA and/or a CPA is a plus
  • Minimum of 5 years total financial experience with a minimum of 3 years of lodging experience
  • Broad range of financial skills including significant experience in accounting, budgeting and forecasting, and financial analysis as well as previous condo experience
  • Excellent interpersonal skills- must effectively interact with owners, senior executives, property EC team, and finance and accounting staff at all levels
  • Ability to prioritize across a broad range of areas; need to know when to support, delegate or take-charge
  • Create monthly reporting package for Hotel and Condominium. Performing collaborative review and consultation with property team prior to corporate and ownership distribution
  • Assist in creating the annual operating budget and monthly forecast for the property and provide analytical support during reviews to identify cost saving and productivity enhancement opportunities for property managers
  • Maintain cash flow projections and ensure proper reporting is maintained for internal management
  • Oversee reconciliation of balance sheet and ensure account balances are supported by appropriate supporting documentation
  • Oversee accounting for and cash management of condo rental management program and relevant condo associations of mixed use property.
  • Ensure that processes and controls are in place for fund flows between the hotel, condominiums and HOA’ s and that all revenues and expenses are accurately allocated and accounted for between these entities
  • Oversee internal, external, and regulatory audit processes and ensure compliance with proper internal controls and SOPs; make sure appropriate corrections are made
  • Ensure tax rates used for sales/use tax are current and proper amounts are collected and/or accrued; oversee the payment of real estate/ property taxes, payroll and other applicable local taxes; ensure tax exempt transactions are appropriate and properly documented
